WR 911 Grounds Crew
Posted Jun 10, 2015

As you read this it is probably raining outside!  I am convinced Mother Nature is not a baseball fan.

When you arrive at the ballpark and the fields are in pristine condition, it is not an accident.  Ronnie Morales, Robbie Stokes and a few individuals who support them make it happen.  With all the wet weather we have been experiencing, it takes a lot of effort to pull it off and you should thank these guys the next time you see them at the ballpark.

When the fields are saturated, it can be a daunting task.  The baseball committee has decided to reach out to our great community of baseball families and ask that you consider becoming part of the “911 Ground Crew”.  This select group will be “on-the-ready” to descend on West Raleigh and help prepare the fields.  With the combined effort of ten to fifteen individuals, prep time would be cut in half and give the fields more drying time before play begins.  Our goal is to create a call list, 30-40 strong, in hopes of landing ten individuals to help out that day.

This group is named “911” for a reason.  We will be calling on this group to help in unusually wet conditions or to help with special projects.  You will not be called for routine maintenance.

If interested, please email Ronnie Morales, rmorales@westraleigh.org, or Eric Penley, depenley@gmail.com.  We will get back in touch soon.

Thank you for all that you do to make West Raleigh great!
