Welcome to West Raleigh

The West Raleigh Exchange Club established the baseball program in 1958 as one of its youth projects. The West Raleigh Baseball Association has been an overwhelming success.

West Raleigh serves about 1000 youth players ages 4 through 14 yrs in spring and fall baseball programs, and a very successful All Star program. In the last decade, West Raleigh has had several All Star teams reach the World Series for Ripken and PONY baseball, winning the Ripken World Series three times.

While there is no doubt that this is a competitive league, we believe that good coaching, lots of practice, a family atmosphere, a focus on sportsmanship and giving back are all keys to our success.

There are many leagues across the country, but few are as family friendly as West Raleigh. It is not uncommon for kids and their families to watch other kids playing their games before or after their own games, some spending an entire day at the ball park. There is a community feel to this league that we cherish.

All the West Raleigh programs are designed to promote teamwork, good sportsmanship, skill growth and healthy competition for children of varying ages. West Raleigh prides itself for focusing on sportsmanship. The biggest trophy every season, every year is for the Sportsmanship Winner of the League. Each team has its own Sportsmanship Award provided to the member that best exemplifies good sportsmanship, and then one of those kids are voted on by the coaches to be the Sportsmanship Winner of the League.

Finally, West Raleigh requires the players, coaches and families to give back in many ways like preparing gift baskets for kids at Duke Childrens Hospital, collecting for food drives, participating in the Miracle League and raising money and awareness for kids with cancer. These activities provide experiences that both help our community and place everything in the proper perspective.
